Cardinal Brady this weekend at the National Eucharistic Congress and the Knock Youth Festival in Knock where there was over 13.000 present, set all youth a challenge to use social media and get the word out about the International Eucharistic Congress in 2012. This is the first time to my knowledge that the Bishops of the Church in Ireland have turned to youth to be actively supporting the church in it’s mission in Ireland in recent times. This is our chance to shine and to show the Bishops that we are not only the future of the Church but in fact we are an important element of the Church today.
He encouraged us to use social media such as Twitter, Facebook and Blog’s and he recognized that we are the pro’s in this area. So lets show him what we can do and what we are about and what we as youth can offer the Church and the importance of the youth within the Irish Church so let us not be afraid and lets get Tweeting and Facebooking and Blogging if your not already and spread the Word.
This is a important step for us as young people to bring the word to our fellow youth we are the only ones who can actively do this as our fellow youth get very limited time to chat with priest’s, if even they would ever desire to. So it important for us to reach out because we have the ability to speak to our family, friends, and fellow youth about our faith and the Eucharistic Congress.
But this has its challenges; we can fear that we don’t have the right answers, but don’t worry if you don’t know the answer you can say I will get back to you, and you can ask a priest or someone with a bit more knowledge than you, you don’t have to know it all to be a voice within the Church, you just need the courage to speak out and sometime this can be hard but, follow you heart and fight for what you believe. Also don’t forget to pray and God will be with you always.
